LilMe_SmallGIF.gif (3678 bytes) At the end of the First Age, Elwing is temporarily turned into a bird and flies to her husband at sea. She carries to him the fabled Silmaril, which allows them to pass into the land of the gods and secure their help in the defeat of Melkor.  I imagined Elwing in mid transformation back to elf form.
